Amy Birk, LCSW

THERAPIST FOR HIGH-ACHIEVERS IN HOUSTON, TEXAS

My story

My story of becoming a therapist starts with me as a client on the couch.  I moved to NYC in my 20s when I was a young, ambitious professional. I loved living in the city and finding my way but it was also so much change – a demanding career, new friends, dating and relationships, and stress and anxiety that was under the surface of the “achievement” and “success” on the surface. So, I found a therapist to help me slow down, block out the noise of the city and the opinions of others, and figure out who I really was and who I was becoming. Just as I was tending to my physical body through running and yoga, therapy helped me tend to my inner world. The results were life-changing.

Over time, I had a dream of becoming a therapist and made a career pivot. I love sitting with my clients, who I know lead busy and full lives, and provide an opportunity for them to get quiet, get slow, and figure out what they really want.
